Fashion Crush Friday #1

Hey Y'all! Welcome to a new segment on my blog! One or two Fridays a month I will be bringing your some of my fashion favorites! These will either be things that are already in my closet or things that I wish I had in my closet! And if we're being honest, it will probably be more of the latter. You know, because I'm in college and stuff.

So let's get on with it!

This sweater from J Crew

This Ted Baker ipad case from Nordstrom

Big, cozy sweaters for fall like this one from Forever 21
(Wishful thinking considering it's still well over 90 degrees here in Texas!)

And these adorable boots from Zappos.com!

It seems like burgundy is definitely in for the fall and I am LOVING it! What are some of your fashion crushes of the moment?

Caitlin

My Most Used Makeup Products

Hey Y'all! I was recently packing for a trip where I didn't need to bring very much makeup. We were dropping my brother off at college (sob) and I was just going natural with my makeup for the weekend. It got me thinking; what are the products that I reach for the most? Which ones are the ones that I grab when I'm out of ideas or I'm in a hurry? So I took a quick look through my collection and this is what I came up with.

Mac Painterly Paint Pot

I love this thing, y'all. Its just the right color to even out my eyelids and make them appear smooth and flawless. It works great as an eyeshadow primer, but I also wear it on "just mascara" days to even everything out. I've had it for around a year and a half and it hasn't run out or gotten dry. I will definitely be using this product forever!

Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Concealer

I use this as my everyday under eye concealer. It's got a nice creamy consistency and a little bit of a reflective quality to really brighten up the under eye area. I apply it under my eyes and blend it down diagonally from my tear duct and out along my cheekbone a little bit. Its great after long nights studying to cover dark circles.

Mac Studio Fix Powder Foundation

I use this on days when I'm running out the door and don't have time to do a full foundation routine. Or when I have a morning class because, lets face it, no one dresses up for morning classes. Its got great coverage and a nice porcelain finish. I think my favorite part is that it is just so easy to throw on! Just conceal some trouble spots, buff on the powder and you're ready to go!

Studio Gear Eye Shadow in Dark Chocolate

Using eyeshadow as eyeliner is one of my all-time favorite makeup tricks. It's so easy to do and I love the smudgy, softer line it creates. I use this product almost every day to make my upper lash line appear fuller without having a super defined line. I love this eyeshadow because its matte and nicely pigmented. Its not too dark so it looks super natural, and this product will last me forever! I use it almost every day and I've barely scratched the surface!

NYC Smooth Skin Bronzer in "Sunny"

There is a reason this stuff is talked about so much in the beauty community! Its the perfect matte brown color for contouring and warming up the face. I have a couple different bronzers in my collection but I always keep coming back to this one!

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in "Dollface"

This blush was one of the first higher end makeup products I ever purchased, and I never regretted it for a second! It is such a lovely babydoll pink color, and this blush lasts so long! I can put it on in the morning and know that it is going to last all day. This is definitely my most used blush.

Covergirl Eyeshadow Trio in "Shimmering Sands"

This is the perfect trio to put on for a put together, yet natural look. The light pink shade on the far right is so light and beautiful and really opens up tired eyes. I use the light pink on the inner third, the sandy middle color on the rest of the lid, and the brown color on the left in the crease. The formulation of these shadows are great and this is a wonderful palette for anyone who is looking for a look that is easy to do in the morning.

Mac Lipstick in "Sweetie"

This is my go to "my lips but better" color. Its a beautiful, natural pink color with some shimmer and a little bit of a glossy finish. I can just throw this on while I'm running out the door and I know i'll looked polished no matter how late I am!

So there it is friends! The products in my arsenal that I reach for the most. Let me know if you try any of them! What are your most used makeup products?

Caitlin

LUSH Mask of Magnaminty: Review and Pictures

I have oily skin.

No, y'all, like I have REALLY oily skin. I'm that girl who has to bring blotting sheets and pressed powder with her in the dead of winter when everyone else's skin is so dry it hurts. I stay far, far away from products that promise a "dewey finish" or "natural glow" because I have enough natural glow of my own, thank you very much.

Well friends, I think I've finally found a product that can handle my oily skin.

LUSH Mask of Magnaminty

Lush describes this product as a "Deeply cleansing, toning, and exfoliating pepperminty mask. Refreshes and brightens all it touches."

This product looks like a typical clay mask; thick, green, gooey. But this one has little exfoliating flakes that work to scrub off dead skin cells while the mask does it's thing. It also has peppermint oil in it, which makes it smell extra yummy but also makes your eyes water a little bit when you wear it.

I've been using this mask once or twice a week for about a month now and I've seen a huge improvement in my skin. I've noticed fewer active breakouts, less blackheads, and my skin has even stopped producing oil in the same extraordinary manor it was before.

My only complaints are that it tingles when you put in on; something that I don't mind but other people might not be so fond of. And that the little exfoliating flakes sometimes fall off your face as the mask is drying.

All in all, this is a solid product and one that I will be repurchasing. What is your favorite face mask of the moment?

xoxo,
Caitlin
